Book Presentation on Municipalism Set for Tuesday
Vilafranca del Penedès mayor Francisco Romero will present his new book, La força de les ciutats (The Power of Cities), in Igualada on Tuesday 22 September at 19:00. The event will take place at the Sala de Socis of the Ateneu Igualadí and will feature a dialogue with Jordi Cuadras, leader of the opposition at Igualada City Council and mayoral candidate.
Focus on Local Politics and Urban Change
The discussion will centre on key themes from the book, including the role of cities as drivers of change in a globalised world and how effective politics is built through direct engagement with citizens at the local level. Published by Abacus Futur, the book argues that municipalism is not just an administrative tier but a grounded, community-focused approach to governance that improves everyday life. Romero, a telecommunications engineer by training and an experienced figure in local public service, uses the metaphor of internet networks to illustrate how cities can function as interconnected systems, generating global solutions from local action.
Author Background and Event Details
This is Romero’s second essay, following Política 4.0 per a millennials, and reinforces his focus on the transformative potential of urban governance. Residents and interested members of the public are invited to attend the presentation in person at the Ateneu Igualadí’s members’ hall.
