Valls will become the capital of wine, music, and gastronomy from 14 to 16 May, as the 12th Valls Va de Vins, the DO Tarragona Wine Fair, takes place. This established event brings together local wineries and restaurants, alongside a varied music programme, according to organisers. The Valls City Council's Department of Commerce organises the event, with support from DO Tarragona, the Societat Agrícola de Valls, and the city's Restaurateurs Association.

The central hub for the fair will be El Pati on 15 and 16 May, where seven wineries and six restaurants from the region will gather. The event aims to reinforce the diversity and quality of local wine production.

Wineries and Gastronomy on Offer

Participating DO Tarragona wineries include Societat Agrícola de Valls, Mas Bella, Mas Amfres, Cellers Blanch, Adernats – Vinícola de Nulles, Celler Pallarades, and Vives Ambrós. Visitors can sample over 30 wines and cavas from these producers. Six local restaurants will also participate, transforming Valls centre into a space for tasting and culinary discovery. These establishments are Barbar, Cal Cesc, Ecliss, Incògnit, Licorera, and Portal 22.

The fair starts on 14 May with a wine tasting at Plaça Pere Català i Roca, beneath the Casteller Museum, at 7.30pm. Tickets for this limited-capacity event cost €10 and are available at www.entradium.com. This tasting will kick off the programme and allow attendees to discover DO Tarragona wines.

Prices for the main two days at El Pati remain the same as last year. A pack of five tastings, including a complimentary wine glass and a 2-for-1 voucher for the Casteller Museum, will be available. Individual tastings, glasses, and glass holders can also be purchased.

Live Music Programme

The Music Valls Va de Vins programme features a mix of live energy, diverse styles, and festive proposals for all audiences. On Friday, 15 May, local group Bandabòlit will start the music at 7.30pm. This will be followed by A Contra Blues at 9pm, a well-known European rock and blues band with over 20 years of experience, recognised for their powerful live performances and connection with the audience.

Saturday, 16 May, will host the rest of the music programme. PD Xati will play a midday session at 12.30pm, suitable for vermouth hour. Reig Bord PD, the project of Els Pets drummer Joan Reig, will follow at 7.30pm, offering eclectic and festive vinyl sets that combine classics and new discoveries. The day will conclude with Hip Horns Brass Collective at 9pm, a brass band known for fusing New Orleans jazz, funk, hip-hop, and afrobeat with an explosive and interactive stage presence. The group recently performed successfully in New Orleans, building its international reputation and transforming each concert into a collective experience of energy and celebration.

Boosting Local Commerce

A new initiative for this year's edition is a commercial promotion with city businesses. Purchases of €10 or more made on 15 and 16 May at participating Valls shops will entitle customers to a wine tasting. Customers must present their receipt at the fair's sales points to claim this offer.

All city shops selling products or services can participate, except large commercial establishments (those with a surface area of 1,300 m² or more), supermarkets, and restaurants. This promotion is limited to 300 tastings.
