Resident parking to be prioritised at Valldoreix station
The Entitat Municipal Descentralitzada (EMD) of Valldoreix has approved a new ordinance reserving 225 free parking spaces near Valldoreix train station for local residents. The measure, passed at today’s Valldoreix Neighbourhood Council meeting, aims to address long-standing concerns that non-residents occupy most of the free parking, leaving locals struggling to find a space. These 225 reserved spaces will be located closest to the station, in Plaça del Bruc and Carrer del Bruc, and will form part of a designated green zone. They will be free of charge and available to residents from Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 20:00. Outside these hours, the spaces will be open to all. Approximately 500 additional free parking spaces, located further away including at Can Cadena car parks, will remain accessible to any driver.
Registration via mobile app, no physical tickets
Residents of Valldoreix will be able to register their vehicles through the EMD, which will verify empadronamiento (official residency registration). Each household can register up to two vehicles. A mobile application, developed in collaboration with the Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB), will be used to identify authorised vehicles by licence plate. There will be no need to display a physical ticket. The AMB will enforce the rules using a vehicle-mounted camera system to read licence plates. Unauthorised vehicles parked in the green zone during regulated hours may receive a €100 fine, issued by the Sant Cugat Town Council.

Implementation date not yet confirmed
While the new parking ordinance was approved today, the exact start date for the system has not yet been announced. The EMD must first complete the formal approval process before the system can be implemented. Currently, only 18% of vehicles parked around the station belong to Valldoreix residents, according to EMD data. A previous attempt to introduce a similar green zone in 2009 failed due to a lack of enforcement mechanisms.
