Reus City Council is installing new children’s play equipment in recent days at Glorieta d’Andalusia, Glorieta del Priorat and Glorieta de les Balears in Barri Fortuny. Families using the three public squares will have new outdoor play areas, including equipment designed for wheelchair users and children with reduced mobility.
The supply and installation contract has a maximum cost of €117,789.58. It is financed by NextGenerationEU funds through a programme for the economic and social recovery of residential neighbourhoods.
Three squares receive new inclusive equipment
- Glorieta d’Andalusia: a connected wooden climbing and balance circuit for children aged four to 12, plus a wheelchair-accessible rotating game and an inclusive spring-mounted game.
- Glorieta del Priorat: a wooden activity route, balance equipment using natural logs, ropes and nets, an adapted rotating game, and a wooden bicycle-shaped spring game for younger children.
- Glorieta de les Balears: a 20-metre zip line, an inclusive seesaw, an adapted spring game and a playhouse.
The council said the project is intended to improve public space in the neighbourhood, encourage outdoor play and provide safe, accessible equipment.
“We are making new spaces for families and children to meet and play outdoors available,” said Daniel Marcos, Reus councillor for public space.
Parents should check age guidance at each play area
Each play area will have dedicated signs stating the recommended ages for its equipment and advice on use. Parents and carers should check the information boards before children use the new facilities.
