Valldoreix will hold its Festa Major, its annual major community festival, from Wednesday 16 to Sunday 20 September 2026. The programme, announced by the EMD of Valldoreix, includes cultural, sporting, music and family events at locations across the municipality.
Residents of Colònia Montserrat will deliver the opening address on Friday 18 September in the EMD Plenary Hall. The neighbourhood is marking its centenary, making the ceremony a central part of this year’s festival.
Music, cultural events and family activities
The programme includes a jazz concert by Júlia Plans and a Youth Night featuring Los 80 Principales, Les Montses and Doctor Prats.
Other planned activities include:
- a gathering of cultural associations;
- artisan and antiques fairs;
- a parade of giants, the large traditional festival figures carried through the streets;
- a human-tower day, featuring casteller groups who build traditional Catalan human towers;
- a paella competition; and
- a concert by Les Anxovetes performing havaneres, Catalan songs with origins in maritime and Caribbean musical traditions.
More than 20 local groups involved
More than 20 local organisations are due to run activities, workshops and exhibitions over the festival weekend.
The programme was presented by EMD president Juanjo Cortés, Culture councillor Susana Casta and Noelia Bocanegra of the Colònia Montserrat Neighbourhood Association. Cortés and Casta thanked participating organisations, volunteers and staff, while Bocanegra said the neighbourhood regarded its role in the opening ceremony as an honour.
People intending to attend can plan around the 16–20 September festival dates, with the opening address scheduled for Friday 18 September at the EMD Plenary Hall.
