The Únics Basketball Club in Cerdanya, a project started six years ago with seven players with disabilities from the region, has become a key player in adapted and cross-border sport. The club now participates in competitions across Catalonia and France.

Currently, the club has around 20 athletes with various disabilities. Its membership has increased due to promotional work and cooperation with other local organisations and town councils, according to Regió 7.

Únics Basketball Club players train weekly and take part in leagues and tournaments, both locally and internationally. This shows their dedication to sport and their ability to overcome challenges.

Seeking Further Support

Despite its successes, the club is asking for more public administration support to continue expanding and providing new opportunities for its athletes. Officials said current aid is not enough to cover costs for travel, equipment, and specialised staff.

The Únics Basketball Club in Cerdanya demonstrates how sport can be a tool for social inclusion and personal development. It aims to keep promoting sports values and solidarity among its members and the wider community.
