Roses will host a round table on 29 May 2026 on the role of the University of Girona’s historical and archaeological chairs in preserving Catalan heritage. The event will explain what these chairs do and open a public discussion on how to conserve and promote heritage.
The discussion will bring together three representatives from each of the municipalities and chairs involved. From Sant Feliu de Guíxols, which is home to the Martí Casals Chair of Medicine and Health in Rural Areas, the speakers will be Joaquim Maria Puigvert, director of the chair, Sílvia Alemany, director of the History Museum, and archaeologist Jordi Colomeda.
Roses will be represented by Marc Bouzas, director of the Archaeology Chair, Carles Páramo from the Municipal Heritage Institute, and Silvia Ripoll, the town council’s culture councillor.
The round table aims to highlight the work of these academic chairs in safeguarding Catalonia’s historical and archaeological assets. It also seeks to bring together experts and local officials to share ideas on heritage protection and public engagement.
This is part of a wider civic conversation on heritage across Catalonia. Readers can follow more local coverage on our news page and see related reporting from the University of Girona.
