Major Delays on AP-7 After Truck Fire
A fire involving a refrigerated goods lorry has caused severe traffic disruption on the AP-7 motorway near Cerdanyola del Vallès, with queues stretching over 11 kilometres. The incident occurred in the early morning of Thursday, 3 September 2026, around 6:23am, when emergency services received an alert via the 112 emergency line. Four teams from the Bombers de la Generalitat were dispatched to the scene at kilometer 151.2 of the AP-7, travelling southbound towards Tarragona. Initial reports confirm the fire completely destroyed the cab and spread to the trailer, which was carrying frozen products. The Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT) reported that all three lanes were closed shortly after 7am, causing immediate congestion.
Trànsit advises avoiding the affected stretch of the AP-7 and using alternative routes.
By 7:30am, one lane had been reopened, and later updates confirmed two lanes were operational, though traffic remained heavily disrupted. The backlog extended from Mollet del Vallès, affecting not only the AP-7 but also the parallel B-30, which experienced at least 10km of tailbacks between Badia del Vallès and Sant Cugat del Vallès.
Alternative Routes Recommended
The SCT advises drivers heading towards Tarragona or Lleida to take the C-58 and B-40 as alternatives. For those travelling towards Barcelona, the C-58, B-40, and A-2 are recommended. The fire is now under control, and no injuries have been reported. Investigation into the cause is ongoing.
