Two motorcyclists have been seriously injured in separate morning accidents on major roads in the Barcelona province, one on the C-32 near Mataró and another on the AP-7 in Mollet del Vallès, causing significant traffic disruption.
The first incident occurred at approximately 8:02am on the C-32 in the direction of Barcelona, near Mataró. According to the Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT), a motorcyclist collided with a car in a rear-end crash at kilometric point 100.3. Emergency Medical Services (SEM) treated the rider at the scene and transferred them in serious condition to Can Ruti Hospital in Badalona. Three SEM units responded, and for much of the morning only one lane remained open, creating up to 4km of tailbacks from Sant Andreu de Llavaneres southbound.
Shortly after, a second serious accident took place on the AP-7 as it passes through Mollet del Vallès. A female motorcyclist was seriously injured following a collision with a car. The SCT confirmed that one lane was closed in the direction of Girona. The woman was treated by emergency crews before being taken to Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona in serious condition.
Traffic impact and emergency response
Both incidents severely affected rush-hour traffic. On the C-32, congestion reached 4km, with additional queues reported on the N-II toward Barcelona. Traffic has since normalised after vehicles were removed, according to the latest SCT updates (transit.gencat.cat).
On the AP-7, delays extended significantly during the morning peak. While some reports mention multi-vehicle involvement, including trucks and cars, the exact circumstances remain under investigation. Retencions impacted northbound lanes, affecting commutes from the Vallès region toward Girona.
"We urge all road users to exercise caution, especially on high-speed routes where motorcycle vulnerability is greatest."
The causes of both collisions are under investigation by regional police and transport authorities. The Servei Català de Trànsit continues to promote road safety awareness through campaigns such as Moto amb Seny, aimed at reducing motorcycle casualties.
