In Girona province, Mossos d'Esquadra arrested three men with previous criminal records between 5 and 8 June, after alleged burglaries at businesses in Garriguella, Figueres and Salt.

The first case was reported just before 11.30pm on 5 June, when an alarm went off at a company in Garriguella. Officers who went to the scene found a 33-year-old man in the car park. He first said he was an employee working overtime, but police said that was false.

Police also said the alarm cover had been broken and tampered with. Changing room lockers had been disturbed, and the man was wearing trainers stolen from that area of the company. On that basis, he was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

The second incident took place in the early hours of 8 June at a business in the Figueres trade fair industrial estate. According to the Mossos, the suspect stole a copper coil and fled. Officers identified him from security camera footage and found him four hours later cycling along Figueres' Rambla.

When officers stopped him, the 44-year-old man became aggressive, shouted and hit one of the officers while trying to get away. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, resisting arrest, disobedience and assaulting officers. During a search, police found a package containing 14.7 grams of amphetamine, which led to a further arrest on suspicion of drug trafficking.

The third case happened on 6 June, shortly after 1am, in Salt. A Mossos patrol heard an alarm at a garden centre, while local police radioed through a description of the intruder. When Mossos officers arrived, they detained a 47-year-old man matching that description. Police said he was carrying thirteen pruning shears and new work gloves that had just been stolen. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

All three detainees appeared before the duty investigating courts in Figueres and Girona. For more local updates, see our news coverage.
