Tarragona City Council has opened tenders for summer services on several city beaches, including food trucks, sunbed and umbrella hire, nautical schools, and non-motorised boat rentals.
The tender covers eleven lots across Platja del Miracle, l’Arrabassada, Platja Llarga, La Móra and Tamarit. The authorisations will last for four years.
One of the new services will be a food truck kiosk on Platja del Miracle. It may include a terrace of up to 40 square metres and must meet environmental and landscape integration rules. The council will also ban single-use plastic crockery, with reusable or biodegradable materials required instead.
For sunbeds and umbrellas, the council is asking for a natural look, with neutral colours and materials that fit the beach setting. Balinese beds will not be allowed. Installations must also be demountable, and all furniture must be new or less than one year old, according to city officials.
The tender also includes non-motorised boat hire and nautical schools at l’Arrabassada, La Móra, Tamarit and Platja Llarga. These activities need authorisation from the Maritime Captaincy and must follow safety rules for navigation and sea access.
The document also places emphasis on beach cleanliness and sustainability. Successful companies will need to keep their areas and nearby surroundings clean, provide selective waste collection systems, and support environmental awareness campaigns run by the City Council.
