Tarragona has awarded the contract for safety barriers needed for the Tour de France stage that will pass through the city on 5 July 2026. Romian Producciones S.L. will handle the supply, installation and removal of the barriers along the 6-kilometre urban route.

The contract is worth €110,000 including VAT and was awarded after a public tender that received five bids. According to city officials, the Seville-based company will manage transport, assembly, maintenance during the event and dismantling afterwards.

About 4,200 two-metre metal barriers will be placed along the route. They will help close the urban circuit in a controlled way, guide spectators and mark out areas for the start, the neutralised city section and spaces reserved for media and organisers.

The route will pass through Plaça de les Corts Catalanes, Francesc Macià, Lluís Companys, Rambla Nova, Balcó, Pau Casals, Reina Maria Cristina, Avinguda Catalunya, Via de l'Imperi Romà, Rambla Vella, Plaça UNESCO and Via Augusta. The stage is part of a wider race plan that also includes other metropolitan municipalities before reaching Barcelona.

Barrier assembly will be carried out in phases in the days before the event, but the full circuit must be closed by 6am on race day. Dismantling is due to begin at 2pm the same day, with streets reopened progressively as the work is completed.

The contract also allows for institutional communication supports to be placed on the barriers at strategic points. More local news from across Catalonia is available on our news tag page.
