Vila-seca, in Camp de Tarragona, is hosting Mirada Mediterrània at Vila-seca Castle, an exhibition centred on Joaquín Sorolla’s view of the Mediterranean. The show opened recently and runs until 14 September.
About 50 works are included in the display, which focuses on Sorolla’s relationship with the Camp de Tarragona area. It presents the Valencian painter’s interest in Mediterranean light, colour and coastal scenes, themes that shaped much of his career.
The exhibition also looks at Sorolla’s ties to the Tarragona region, offering a local angle on an artist best known for his depictions of the Spanish coast. Visitors can see how the landscape and atmosphere of the area connect with his wider body of work.
