Private Meeting Held at Parliament

Yolanda Vilajosana, sister of Carles Vilajosana who died following a stabbing in Manresa last month, was received in a private audience by the Mesa del Parlament de Catalunya this noon. The meeting took place in the parliamentary chamber's audience room and was not open to media. Vilajosana attended alongside David Canyadó, mayor of Castellnou de Bages, and a group of around ten friends and associates. They were received by Parliament President Josep Rull, First Vice-President Raquel Sans (ERC), Second Vice-President David Pérez (PSC), and board members Glòria Freixa (Junts), Juli Fernández (ERC), Rosa Maria Ibarra (PSC), and Judit Alcalà (PSC).

Call for Action on Urban Safety

According to parliamentary sources, the Mesa expressed its condolences and solidarity over the death of Carles Vilajosana. The board committed to taking concrete steps on public safety issues raised during the meeting. Yolanda Vilajosana said she felt “very well treated” and used the opportunity to convey the growing sense of insecurity felt by residents in Manresa and other major cities. She had previously pledged at her brother’s funeral to bring the case to Parliament and “go further if needed”, as reported by Regió7 and Periodista Digital.

I will go as far as necessary

The group has been invited to attend the resumption of the general political debate in the parliamentary chamber at 14:30.

Context of Ongoing Parliamentary Debate

The invitation aligns with the ongoing general debate on social mobility, economic progress, and welfare in Catalonia, scheduled under document reference 255-00010/15. The debate, which resumed today, addresses rising living costs, housing pressures, and weakening public services, issues that intersect with broader concerns about urban safety and social cohesion.
