The legendary Catalan band Sau will officially start their highly anticipated return to the stage in Valls on Saturday, 18 October, with the show “Un concert de pel·lícula” (A Film Concert). This performance at the Municipal Cultural Centre in Valls marks the beginning of a unique 10-concert tour.
After a 25-year hiatus, Sau is embarking on this special tour, which coincides with the filming of “Els de Sau”, a biopic about the band's 1990s journey. Pep Sala and four original members will share the stage with guest collaborators, including vocalists Fredrik Strand and Jonathan Argüelles, who will appear at all shows.
For the Valls premiere, local singer Mariona Escoda will join the band as a guest vocalist. This format, featuring different collaborations, will be repeated throughout the tour, according to Valls officials. The concert starts at 8pm.
An Immersive Audiovisual Experience
“Un concert de pel·lícula” offers an immersive audiovisual experience, combining unreleased band images, exclusive clips from the “Els de Sau” film, and the group's greatest hits. These visuals will be projected onto a large screen, creating a deep visual and emotional connection with the audience.
Pep Sala leads the tour, uniting original band members with various guest artists. In addition to the consistent presence of Fredrik Strand and Jonathan Argüelles, surprise guests will appear at different performances. The inclusion of guest artists aims to connect Sau's music with younger generations who did not experience the band live.
Sau has prepared an exceptional artistic proposal that links past and present, blending live music with audio and video recordings of the band, including Carles Sabater. Fredrik Strand, a finalist from the TV3 programme Eufòria, brings a new dimension to the songs, expected to move both long-time fans and new listeners. This tour offers a unique chance to relive the essence of Sau's 1990s concerts, with a format designed for theatres and auditoriums across Catalonia in 2025 and 2026.
The “Els de Sau” Biopic
The new show's timing is significant, aligning with the filming of the “Els de Sau” movie. This production by Arlong Produccions and Imminent Produccions, written and directed by Elisabet Terri, chronicles the history of one of the most important groups of the late 20th century. The main actors are Guim Puig as Carles Sabater, Pol Monen as Pep Sala, and Guillermo Lasheras as Joan Capdevila.
Filming for the biopic started in late September, with the film expected to be released in 2026. The production has participation from 3Cat, a Catalan public media corporation. The tour and film together aim to reintroduce Sau's legacy to a new audience while celebrating their enduring impact on Catalan music.
