Firefighters have brought a wildfire in Sanaüja, in Segarra, under control after it burned around 50 hectares of agricultural and forest land. The fire started on Saturday afternoon and was declared controlled early on Sunday morning.
The first alert came at 13:02 on Saturday, near Masia dels Flares, close to the municipal boundary with Biosca in Solsonès. The fire initially burned a haystack and a low-intensity crop field before spreading into forest land.
At the height of the response, 45 fire crews were deployed, including nine aerial units, according to officials. Fifteen ground crews remain at the scene to monitor the perimeter and prevent any rekindling, especially with the expected arrival of the marinada sea breeze.
Firefighters are now focusing on checking the affected area for any remaining embers. This monitoring phase is standard after larger fires, particularly where vegetation is dense and conditions can change quickly.
Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the fire. Further updates are expected as the investigation and monitoring continue. For more local reporting, see our news page and our coverage of latest updates.
