A kitchen fire at the Lunattic restaurant in Salou, Tarragona, prompted an evacuation on Thursday afternoon, 14 May. Six fire crews responded to the incident, which occurred at the beachfront establishment in the Els Acantilats area, at one end of Llevant beach.

The emergency services received the alert via the 112 emergency number at 17:30. Initial reports indicated the fire started in the restaurant's kitchen. All staff and customers were evacuated as a precaution.

Firefighters from the Generalitat quickly brought the blaze under control, containing it to the kitchen area within minutes. Despite the potential for the fire and toxic smoke to spread, residents in the six-storey apartment block above the restaurant did not need to be confined to their homes.

Instead, the building's stairwell and the restaurant itself were ventilated. Firefighters confirmed the incident was under control in less than 30 minutes. Crews then worked to clear smoke and check for any remaining hot spots before concluding their service.
