Salou, Tarragona, welcomed 2,000 athletes on 11 April 2026, for its popular 5K and 10K races. The event, known as the 10K Salou by Diari de Tarragona, transformed the municipality into a major sports celebration, marked by a positive atmosphere and ideal running conditions.

Pere Granados, the Mayor of Salou, started the race, which filled the streets with energy. The route, described as fast and privileged due to its seafront location, offered memorable views. Spectators encouraged athletes along the entire circuit, creating a festive and participatory environment. Yeray Moreno, the Sports Councillor, also participated in the race.

Children's Race Highlights Day

One of the most engaging moments of the day was the children's race. Young participants showed great competitive spirit, providing a heartwarming spectacle for families and the public watching. The quick, seaside course allowed both participants and spectators to enjoy the event, strengthening Salou's appeal for sports and scenery.

In the 5K race, Abdelhakim Halid and Elia Figuera claimed victory. Òscar Montserrat and Jess Bonet won the 10K, with Bonet confirming her leading position in the territorial circuit, according to officials.

Positive Impact on Tourism

Beyond the results, the event showed its positive impact through high female participation, a strong presence of young runners, and competitors from outside the region. This helps to boost tourism and extend the tourist season in Salou. Officials said the sporting and organisational success solidifies Salou's reputation as a running destination.
