Sabadell Municipal Police launched a special security operation for the 2026 Festa Major on Friday 4 September, coordinating with the Mossos d’Esquadra, Catalonia’s regional police, and the Policía Nacional. Residents and visitors travelling to concerts or using rail services should expect a more visible police presence, checks at main stations and surveillance around the Eix Macià concert area.

The operation is focused on leisure areas with large crowds and locations hosting special events. Ràdio Sabadell reported that the deployment will remain in place during the Festa Major celebrations, for which programme guides were published for 5, 6 and 7 September.

Control room, cameras and station checks

The operation is coordinated from an Advanced Command Centre on Eix Macià. Officers there can follow live images from around 100 security cameras installed across the city.

  • Municipal Police, Mossos d’Esquadra and Policía Nacional officers are taking part.
  • Checks are planned at the main train and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) stations, as well as at entrances to Sabadell.
  • A Municipal Police drone will fly over strategic areas to reinforce surveillance where crowds are expected.

Joint checks at stations have been used during previous Festa Major events. At La Creu Alta FGC station on 5 September 2025, a joint operation involving more than 20 officers carried out about 50 identity checks and recorded 12 interventions involving possession of substances, according to iSabadell.

Separately, a routine joint bladed-weapons check at Sabadell RENFE Centre station on 11 October 2024 ended without incident, Ràdio Sabadell reported.

Where concert-goers can seek help

The Espai Concerts venue on Eix Macià has a police public-assistance office for any incident reported during the celebrations. A field hospital is also located at the same site.

Anyone attending concerts who needs police assistance can go directly to the public-assistance office at Espai Concerts. The venue is on Eix Macià, where the city has kept Festa Major concerts in recent years.
