The Generalitat is extending the reinforced service on bus line 607 between Girona and Girona-Costa Brava Airport from four to seven months per year. This year, the enhanced service will now run until 31 October, whereas previously it ended on 30 September. Starting next year, the high-season period will begin in April, two months earlier than the previous June start date. The move is part of the second phase of the regional government’s interurban transport improvement plan.

Increased capacity in Maresme region

From 14 September, line 656 connecting Arenys de Munt, Arenys de Mar and Mataró Hospital will increase from six to thirteen one-way trips per day. Evening service will now run until 21:00, strengthening public transport access to the hospital. The expansion more than doubles frequency and improves evening connectivity for residents in the Maresme area. This adjustment responds to growing demand, particularly from those relying on hospital services.

Shift from rail to bus due to Rodalies issues

Some temporary measures could become permanent, given the shift of users from train to bus.

Sílvia Paneque, Minister for Territory, acknowledged that ongoing problems with Rodalies, the regional rail service, have driven passengers toward buses. She noted that some initially temporary bus reinforcements may become permanent as a result. These changes form part of a broader package affecting 13 interurban bus lines across Catalonia, including two new routes. The government has allocated €21.5 million to the second phase of the transport shock plan, aimed at improving regional bus services along key corridors.
