Rubí City Council, through Rubí Forma, has launched a free university micro-credential course in Rubí, aimed at enhancing professional competencies in the transforming socio-health care sector. The 50-hour programme, running from 18 May to 15 June, focuses on mental health, emotional well-being, and digital innovation.

Titled "New challenges in care: mental health, emotional well-being, and digital and technological innovation in the socio-health sector", the course is equivalent to two university credits. It targets individuals with training or experience as geriatric auxiliaries, including both unemployed and currently active professionals.

The initiative is fully subsidised under the "Work, Talent and Technology" (Treball, Talent i Tecnologia) programme. This programme is a collaborative effort by Rubí, Terrassa, and Castellbisbal city councils, with support from the Diputació de Barcelona. Officials said the programme addresses a growing need for professionals equipped to handle changes in socio-health care, particularly in areas such as mental health, emotional well-being, and the integration of digital technologies in care homes and assistance centres.

Addressing Sectoral Needs

Classes will be held in the afternoons, from 3.30pm to 7pm, and are free for students. The in-person sessions will take place at two locations: two at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) campus and two at the Rubí Forma facilities on rambleta de Joan Miró s/n.

Interested individuals can register online, with selection based on the order of application for eligible beneficiaries. This action forms part of the competency development line within the Tecno Talent Vallès project, which aims to improve employability, reduce the digital divide, and adapt talent to the needs of the labour market.

Through this initiative, Rubí City Council reinforces its commitment to quality socio-health care and the continuous training of professionals in the sector. This is the first micro-credential offered in Rubí under the "Work, Talent and Technology" programme, with another planned after the summer.
