The fifth Pirineu, Terra de Versos poetry festival will move from Ripoll to Sant Joan de les Abadesses, with all events now scheduled for the Palau de l’Abadia. People in Ripoll who had planned to attend the festival between 21 and 29 August will need to travel to Sant Joan de les Abadesses instead.
The festival is organised by the cooperative bookshops La Lluerna, based in Ripoll, and El Refugi, based in La Seu d’Urgell. For the past two years, its central event had been held in the cloister of Ripoll Monastery.
Organisers cite late response over municipal equipment
According to a statement from La Lluerna cited by El 9 Nou, the use of the monastery cloister was arranged through the Patronat del Monestir, the body responsible for the monastery, while a piano and stage platform owned by Ripoll Ajuntament, the town council, required a separate request.
La Lluerna said it submitted that request on 9 July and received a reply on 6 August. The bookshop said the council initially granted use of the equipment on condition that its collaboration appeared in event publicity.

The organisers said they added the council to an Instagram post, then were told within an hour that use of the piano and platform would cost €223.50. La Lluerna said it subsequently made arrangements with Sant Joan de les Abadesses Ajuntament to host the full programme at the Palau de l’Abadia.
Festival-goers should go to the Palau de l’Abadia
The relocation applies to all festival events, according to La Lluerna’s statement. Attendees should therefore use the Palau de l’Abadia in Sant Joan de les Abadesses as the venue for the 21 to 29 August programme, rather than Ripoll Monastery.
