Reus is planning to build a replica of Antoni Gaudí’s Assumpta Chapel, a design originally intended for the Sagrada Família in Barcelona. The project is being framed as a way to strengthen the city’s link with its most famous architect.

Virtual recreations now show the chapel’s exterior and interior, giving a clearer view of the planned layout, decorative details and lighting effects. The digital models also show how the building would sit from different angles.

The initiative is being led by the Gresol Foundation, with approval from the Sagrada Família Basilica’s Construction Board and support from several institutions. According to Diari de Tarragona, the chapel was designed by Gaudí in 1920 for the Sagrada Família cloister.

The proposal carries an estimated cost of €10 million. It aims to bring a work by the Reus-born architect to the city, while keeping the project tied to the wider Gaudí legacy in Catalonia.
