25 Selected Films to Be Screened

The 11th edition of the Psicurt Festival of Short Films on Mental Health will run from 3 to 11 October 2026 in Tarragona and Reus. Organised by the Official College of Psychology of Catalonia (COPC) with support from the city councils of Reus and Tarragona and the Tarragona Provincial Council, the festival uses film as a tool to promote awareness and reduce stigma around mental health and psychological disability. This year’s official selection includes 25 short films chosen from a record 430 submissions. The programme features 20 works of fiction and five documentaries, addressing themes such as family trauma, psychosis, identity, sexual assault, aesthetic pressure and childhood experiences. Screenings will take place simultaneously at the Teatre Bartrina in Reus and the Antiga Audiència in Tarragona on the evenings of Friday 9 and Saturday 10 October.

Free Events Include Theatre and Debates

On Wednesday 7 October at 7pm, the autobiographical theatre production Boja by Mariona Esplugues will be performed at the Teatre Bartrina. The play explores the author’s journey through psychiatric services and her relationship with the healthcare system, followed by a discussion with the artist. On Saturday 10 October at 11.30am, the Centre d’Art Cal Massó in Reus will host a morning event titled 'A Vermouth with… José Ocaña and Cristina Urgel'. This will include screenings of last year’s winning shorts, Traje y Tupper and La conversación que nunca tuvimos, followed by a debate with the directors. The festival coincides with World Mental Health Day on 10 October.

The aim is to contribute to raising awareness about the importance of mental health and to consolidate Reus as a cultural reference city.

Public Screenings and Awards Ceremony

Free admission to all events is available until full capacity is reached, with prior booking required for some activities. The official screenings will take place as follows:

  • Friday 9 October: two sessions at 7pm and 8.30pm
  • Saturday 10 October: three sessions at 6pm, 7.30pm and 9pm

The closing ceremony will be held on Sunday 11 October at 6.30pm at the Teatre Bartrina, hosted by journalist Ricard Lahoz. Awards will be presented for Best Fiction, Best Documentary and the Audience Prize, as well as the Educurt Prize for students in secondary and vocational education. The festival is part of Reus City Council’s 'Month of Mental Health' programme, managed by the Area of Services to People and Social Rights, with support from the Culture and Linguistic Policy Department for the use of municipal venues.
