Tortosa, in the Terres de l'Ebre, is hosting a porcelain jewellery exhibition by local artist Raluca Buzura at the Diputació’s School of Art and Culture. The show runs until 30 June and includes brooches, rings and necklaces.

The exhibition, titled Beyond Form: The Language of Decor Applied to Porcelain, opened on Thursday evening. Diputació representative Mercè Pedret attended the opening alongside the artist.

About 30 functional pieces are on display. Buzura used a range of decorative techniques to show the expressive and symbolic potential of porcelain in contemporary jewellery, with particular attention to the decorative process.

The exhibition also traces the development of Buzura’s work, according to officials, moving from technical skill and expressiveness towards a broader body of artistic reflection and experience.

Raluca Buzura is based in Tortosa and is described as an internationally recognised artist in contemporary jewellery. Her ceramic jewellery work focuses on the delicacy of the object, the potential for serial production and the final effect of assembly. For more local coverage, see our news page.
