Mayors from the Pallars Sobirà region met at Port de la Bonaigua to demand urgent solutions from the Generalitat for the deteriorating C-28 road.
The mountain road currently has one lane closed, controlled by traffic lights, and visible cracks in the pavement. Local leaders expressed serious concern about the road's condition and its impact on residents.
According to the mayors, this approximately 3.5 km stretch of infrastructure is the only definitive solution to ensure connectivity between Pallars Sobirà and Val d'Aran. They argue it is essential to prevent isolation during geological or climatic events and to end the feeling of being "third-class citizens."
Ensuring Regional Connectivity
The C-28 is a critical link for the area, providing the main route through the mountains. Its poor state affects daily travel and the local economy. The mayors' meeting highlights growing frustration over the lack of maintenance and the perceived neglect of rural infrastructure.
They are pushing for the Generalitat to prioritise these repairs, seeing them as fundamental to the region's future and the well-being of its inhabitants.
