Swim circuit kicks off in Olot

The 16th edition of the Circuit Girosona de Natació – Gran Premi Diputació de Girona will begin on Saturday 7 November in Olot (Garrotxa), with the 32nd Raül Ramos Trophy marking the official start of the season. The event was formally presented on Tuesday 13 October at the Girona Provincial Council (Diputació de Girona). Five competitions will make up the 2026-27 calendar, maintaining the traditional structure. After Olot, the circuit moves to Banyoles on 6 February 2027 for the 40th Josep Tresserras Trophy, followed by the 49th Mercat del Ram Trophy in Vic on 10 April 2027. On 8 May 2027, Lloret de Mar hosts the 18th Lloret Trophy – Memorial Sensei Fusano, with the series concluding on 6 June 2027 at the 26th City of Girona Trophy – Lluís Masberenguer Memorial, held at the GEiEG sports complex.

Growing participation and regional reach

The swim circuit is experiencing significant growth, particularly over the past two seasons. In the 2025-26 edition, nearly 2,000 swimmers took part, with 1,987 competitors and a balanced gender split. The event’s appeal has extended well beyond Girona’s comarques, attracting 33 clubs from outside the province last year, including Club Natació Santa Olaya from Gijón and Club Natació Voltor Balear from Palma. Swimmers born in 2013 or earlier and holding a valid 2026-27 competition licence are eligible to enter. For the fourth consecutive year, electronic timing systems used in major Catalan and national events will be implemented, ensuring accurate results.

The circuit is deeply rooted in the region and needs care to maintain its current health.

Isidre Balcells, the new technical director who has succeeded Joan Parra, made the statement during the official presentation, underscoring the importance of sustaining the competition’s momentum. Eleven collaborating clubs support the event, nine from the Girona province and two from Osona, in addition to the five organising clubs. In the team standings, Club Natació Banyoles will defend its title as overall club champion after ending Club Natació Vic’s long-standing dominance in the previous season.
