More Frequent Late-Night Rides for Commuters

The Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) has increased service frequency on Nitbus lines N14 and N16, following a surge in late-night ridership across the metropolitan network. The changes aim to ease overcrowding and improve connectivity for residents of Baix Llobregat travelling to Barcelona after dark. On the N14 line, buses will now run every 15 minutes year-round, down from the previous 20-minute interval. This route links Castelldefels, Gavà, and Viladecans with Barcelona, passing through Cornellà, Esplugues, and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.

The reinforcement will improve night connections between several municipalities in Baix Llobregat and Barcelona.

Extended and Adjusted Night Coverage

The N16 line will see adjusted schedules to better bridge daytime transit and night service. During summer months, buses will operate every 15 minutes daily. From October to April, the 15-minute frequency will apply on Saturdays and public holiday eves, while other days retain the 20-minute wait. These updates follow broader expansions to the Nitbus network. In 2025, metropolitan night buses recorded 10.7 million validations, over 600,000 more than in 2024, marking a 6% annual rise and 24% growth since 2023.

New Lines and On-Demand Stops Enhance Safety

The Nitbus network now spans 24 lines with 189 vehicles serving 18 municipalities, operating roughly between 10:30 PM and 6:00 AM. A new N21 line launched this summer, connecting Sant Climent de Llobregat and Gavà Mar to central Gavà and Viladecans. Additionally, on-demand stop services are available across multiple lines, including N14 and N16, allowing passengers to request drop-offs outside official stops for safety reasons, particularly benefiting women and minors. According to the AMB, this feature now extends across all areas beyond Barcelona’s ring roads on 16 designated lines. For full route details, timetables, and maps, visit the official NitBus portal.
