Crash on C-65 claims life of motorcyclist

A 50-year-old motorcyclist from Salt has died in a traffic collision on the C-65 in Girona. The accident occurred at around 18:50 on Saturday at the 29.4 kilometre mark of the road, which connects Girona city with Quart. According to the Catalan Transit Service, a car and a motorcycle collided under circumstances still under investigation. The motorcyclist, identified as A.D.F., died at the scene. The four occupants of the car were unharmed.

Emergency response and investigation

Six patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra, two units from the Catalan Fire Service, and four from the Medical Emergencies Service (SEM) responded to the scene, along with a medicalised helicopter. The Mossos are investigating the cause of the collision.


Rising toll on Catalan roads

This fatality brings the total number of road deaths in Catalonia to 97 since the beginning of 2026, according to provisional data from the Catalan Transit Service. As of 30 September, 95 people had died in 91 fatal accidents across the interurban road network. Motorcyclists are the most affected group among vulnerable road users, with 34 of the 87 deaths recorded by the end of August falling to motorcyclists. Overall, vulnerable users including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists accounted for 56% of road deaths in the first eight months of the year. Girona has seen a rise in road fatalities, recording 20 deaths by the end of August, 10 more than in the same period in 2025. By 30 September, the figure had risen to 23, according to reports from La Plana Ràdio and Diari de Girona.
