A motorcyclist died on Saturday morning, 2 May, after a head-on collision with a car on the BV-5301 road, at kilometre point 33.7, in El Brull, Osona. Two occupants of the car sustained less serious injuries in the accident.
Emergency services received the alert shortly after 10:30am. Five Mossos d'Esquadra patrols, two Generalitat Fire Brigade units, and two ambulances from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) were sent to the scene. Paramedics tried to revive the motorcyclist, but the injuries were too severe, and the individual died at the site.
There were three people inside the car. Two of them were injured and taken to Vic Hospital in a less serious condition. Their positions within the vehicle at the time of the crash have not been released.
Investigation Underway
The Mossos d'Esquadra have collected evidence and started an investigation to determine the cause of the head-on collision between the motorbike and the car. This incident marks the 34th fatality on Catalonia's interurban road network this year, according to provisional data from the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT).
Of these 34 deaths, fifteen, including Saturday's victim, were motorcyclists. The previous motorcyclist fatality was O.M.R., a 43-year-old resident of Santa Coloma de Gramenet, who died on Thursday, 30 April, at 2am. His motorbike crashed on the AP-7 motorway at kilometre point 188.5, in La Granada, Alt Penedès.
