Mollerussa is at the centre of a cannabis trafficking case after Mossos d'Esquadra arrested four members of the same family on Wednesday. The arrests followed a two-year investigation that began in May 2024.

Officers carried out simultaneous raids on two properties in Mollerussa and one in Linyola. According to police, they found an indoor cannabis plantation, a separate place used to store drugs, and a third flat used to hide alleged profits.

The investigation started after agents received information about a family group suspected of selling narcotics, mainly cannabis, in Mollerussa. During surveillance, officers intercepted 11 cannabis transactions. Police said the group changed its selling points up to three times and used security measures to avoid detection.

The four people arrested were two men, aged 29 and 25, and two women, aged 30 and 26. The women were released after giving statements at the Mossos d'Esquadra station in Mollerussa and must appear before a judge when required. The two men, both with previous criminal records, appeared before the duty investigating court in Lleida today.

Police seized more than 2 kilograms of cannabis, doses prepared for sale, tools for preparing, weighing and distributing the drugs, three precision scales and €32,824 in small notes. Officers also confiscated two short firearms with ammunition and a rifle defence.

At the Linyola property, agents found equipment for growing up to 300 cannabis plants, another scale and a safe. The investigation remains open as authorities work to dismantle the alleged trafficking network. For more local crime coverage, see our news page.
