Mollerussa's local council has received 79 applications for six new Policia Local positions, according to Mayor Marc Solsona. These roles are part of the public employment offers for 2024 and 2025, designed to increase the force's strength.

Of the total applicants, 63 are competing for three open access positions through a competitive examination. This process combines selective tests with a merit assessment. Theoretical tests are expected in the first half of June, followed by physical evaluations.

Another 16 applicants have applied for three positions via horizontal mobility. This system allows officers from other local police forces to join, provided they meet the established criteria. Tests for these roles will start after the first selection process finishes.

Strengthening Local Police Presence

The council aims to strengthen the Policia Local, which currently has 21 officers, three of whom are on secondment. The goal is to reach a total of 24 agents, making it the second-largest force in the Lleida region after the capital, the mayor said.

These recruitment efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure public safety and effective law enforcement in Mollerussa. The new officers will help meet the community's evolving needs and maintain order.
