Mollerussa, in the Lleida region, hosted the 27th Bobbin Lace Makers' Gathering on Sunday, 12 April 2026. More than 400 participants from across Catalonia attended the event, which was part of the Sant Isidori Festivities.

The Fira de Mollerussa exhibition hall was filled with needles, bobbins, and intricate bobbin lace designs. Participants shared techniques, displayed their work, and exchanged experiences, according to organisers. The gathering also featured around 15 stalls selling specialist bobbin lace materials, including threads, patterns, and specific tools.

Mollerussa's mayor, Marc Solsona, visited the participating groups alongside Magda Ribes, president of the Albada Association, and other council members. The day ended with an awards ceremony for the best bobbin lace creations submitted to the competition.

Sant Isidori Festivities Celebrations

The Bobbin Lace Makers' Gathering was one of many cultural activities during the Sant Isidori Festivities. These celebrations started on Tuesday with an opening speech by Joel Castanyé, chef at La Boscana restaurant, which recently earned two Michelin Stars.

On Saturday evening, a traditional 'vow of the town' mass took place. During this ceremony, the city, represented by the municipal council, renewed an ancient vow to invoke the saint's protection. A replica of the image of Sant Isidori was moved from its chapel to the parish church to preside over the service, which was officiated by the Bishop of Solsona, Francesc Conesa.

Throughout the week, various local groups organised activities to promote popular culture and community involvement. These included the start of celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the Diables de Mollerussa, the 17th 'Tarda Bastonera' (stick dance afternoon), the Mollerussa City Urban Dance Championship, and the Final Four of the Catalan Junior Preferent Men's Basketball Championship. A Literary Night was also held, featuring the 38th Short Novel Prize and the 10th Saó de Ponent Prize for Theatrical Texts.

Looking ahead, the success of this year's gathering and the broader Sant Isidori Festivities highlights Mollerussa's commitment to preserving and promoting traditional crafts and local culture. The Albada Association, in collaboration with the City Council and Fira de Mollerussa, will likely continue to organise and expand these events in future years.
