Catalan band Mishima will revive their unique event, La Nit de les Roses (The Night of the Roses), on 22 April at Sala La Paloma in Barcelona. This special evening, blending music and literature, takes place on the eve of Sant Jordi, Catalonia's traditional day of books and roses.

Led by frontman David Carabén, Mishima's performance at La Nit de les Roses goes beyond a typical concert. The band explores a dialogue with global pop music by presenting Catalan versions of well-known songs. Their approach focuses not on strict fidelity to the originals, but on creating new, more personal interpretations that resonate closer to home. This shared, delicate experience aims to create a deeper connection between the artists and the audience.

The event also dedicates significant space to literature, bringing the written word out of books and onto the stage. Prominent Catalan authors, including Eva Baltasar, Pol Guasch, Carlota Gurt, Biel Mesquida, Dolors Miquel, and Gabriel Ventura, are scheduled to read fragments from their respective works. This direct interaction allows the audience to engage with literature in a shared, live setting.

Celebrating Sant Jordi's Eve

La Nit de les Roses is designed to be more than just a performance; it plays with the idea of a ritual, creating an immersive atmosphere. Small, thoughtful gestures are incorporated into the evening, such as the serving of a rosé wine specifically linked to the project. This annual gathering has become a cherished prelude to Sant Jordi, which falls on 23 April, celebrating the enduring connection between culture, music, and storytelling in Catalonia.
