Manresa, in Central Catalonia, will be the starting point on Monday evening, 8 June 2026, for a humanitarian convoy bound for Ukraine, before it receives a blessing from Pope Leo XIV in Barcelona.
The convoy, known as the Caravan of Goodness, is led by Sister Lucía of the Santa Clara Convent Foundation. It is the foundation’s 44th humanitarian corridor and will carry aid and vehicles for rescue and healthcare work in Ukraine.
Preparation will begin on Monday afternoon at the Pirelli facilities in Manresa, where 21 ambulances, nine cars and one pick-up truck will be assembled, along with humanitarian material for people affected by the war. A similar initiative took place in February, also starting at Pirelli and stopping in front of Barcelona’s Sagrada Família.
The convoy will include 32 drivers and volunteers, together with staff from Pirelli and mechanics from Driver SRC Pneumàtics, who have provided technical and logistical support. After preparation, the vehicles will be escorted by the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Guàrdia Urbana to the Santa Clara Convent in Manresa.
There, Manresa mayor Marc Aloy and the new board of trustees for the Santa Clara Convent Foundation will receive the convoy. The vehicles will then travel to Barcelona, where they will be kept until Pope Leo XIV blesses them at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc, before an evening prayer vigil.
The foundation says the mission reflects continued support from citizens, companies and volunteers in Manresa for people affected by the conflict in Ukraine. Sister Lucía has previously said that each ambulance sent to Ukraine, bought through donations from companies and individuals, can save an average of 100 lives. More Catalonia news
