Record-Breaking Day for Manresa Team

The Colla Castellera Tirallongues de Manresa completed their most successful appearance to date at the XXX Concurs de Castells in Tarragona on Saturday 3 October. Performing at the Tàrraco Arena Plaça, the team successfully unloaded a 5 de 7 in the first round, followed by a 4 de 8 in the third round after an initial attempt was dismantled. They closed their rounds with a fully unloaded 7 de 7, marking the highest achievement in the group’s history at this biennial event. The performance solidified their standing among Catalonia’s top casteller teams.

Community Support Key to Success

A major factor in their success was strong community turnout. Around 200 supporters from Manresa travelled to Tarragona following a public campaign via social media and local outlets including Regió7. The group had previously offered free transport, commemorative t-shirts, and meals to anyone wishing to attend, promoted through an official sign-up form. The initiative, announced on 22 September, aimed to make the event a shared civic celebration rather than an internal achievement.

This was a day of immense pride, not just for our technical execution, but for sharing the stage with the world’s best colles.

Tirallongues’ leadership highlighted the significance of competing alongside elite teams such as Castellers de Vilafranca and Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls, calling it both an honour and a motivator for future development.

Sunday Final Under Review

The final day of the contest took place today, Sunday 4 October, under potential weather-related restrictions due to rainfall alerts. Organisers confirmed Saturday’s session ended early to minimise risk, though the impact on Sunday’s schedule remained under assessment by the event committee.
