A man was taken to Arnau de Vilanova Hospital in Lleida on Saturday after being attacked with a bladed weapon. The incident occurred at his home on Agustins Street, 3, in the Cappont neighbourhood. The victim sustained injuries to his left forearm and the left side of his abdomen, according to reports.
The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the case, with assistance from the Guàrdia Urbana. The attack marks another incident involving bladed weapons in the city, following recent arrests and confiscations.
Recent Bladed Weapon Incidents
Earlier this month, on 3 April, the Guàrdia Urbana arrested an individual at the junction of Maragall and Ramón y Cajal streets for assault following a suspected bladed weapon attack. On the same day, a 20-year-old man was arrested after being caught robbing a pedestrian at knifepoint on Boters Street.
In late March, also in the Cappont neighbourhood, a fight in a squatted flat on Quatre Pilans Street resulted in one person being stabbed and taken to Arnau de Vilanova Hospital. These incidents highlight an ongoing concern regarding bladed weapon violence in Lleida.
Police Action Against Bladed Weapons
Last year, as part of their joint Plan DAGA operation, the Mossos d'Esquadra and Guàrdia Urbana confiscated 396 bladed weapons, including knives, switchblades, and awls, in Lleida city. During the same period, authorities received 3,206 related complaints. The ongoing efforts by law enforcement aim to reduce the presence of such weapons and improve public safety in the region.
