Court Details Intent and Surprise Attack

The popular jury found the man guilty of assassination. The presiding magistrate's sentence stated that the aggressor acted "motivated by the intention to end life or, at least, knowing the high probability of doing so with his conduct".

The court further noted that the attack was "sudden and by surprise", meaning the victim "could not offer effective defence either initially or after falling to the ground". All facts declared proven were unanimous, according to the sentence.

The court concluded that these facts collectively establish the "objective and subjective" elements of the crime of assassination as stipulated by the Penal Code.
