In Lloret de Mar, council workers protested this afternoon outside the town hall, calling on the local government to open talks on labour improvements. The protest came as the town council held a plenary session called by opposition groups ERC, Junts and Tots per Lloret to discuss the dispute.
The workers are asking for a new collective bargaining agreement. According to the report, the current deal expired 15 years ago, and staff want negotiations to begin after years without an updated agreement.
During the plenary, the opposition motion was approved with votes from ERC, Junts, Tots per Lloret, VOX and Frederic Guich, from Lloret en Comú, who is part of the governing coalition. The motion calls for a full improvement plan with specific measures.
The debate was marked by tension between the opposition and the Human Resources councillor, Míriam Rodríguez. The opposition said the session was needed to address the long-running labour crisis affecting municipal staff.
The vote gives added pressure on the council to respond to the workers' demands and start negotiations. For more Catalonia local coverage, see our news page.
