Lleida City Council is improving Victorina Vila Square in the Joc de la Bola-Camp d'Esports neighbourhood, with work focused on the children's play area. Municipal brigades are installing a wooden perimeter fence to improve child safety, and new signs will remind residents of pet ownership rules, including keeping animals on leads, collecting their waste, and not allowing them into play areas.

Mayor Fèlix Larrosa visited the site on 20 May 2026 and said these spaces should be designed with a high level of security. He described that as creating a refuge for families, especially for children using the inclusive play equipment, while keeping the area open and usable.

Larrosa also called for respect for coexistence rules in the city, saying Lleida should move towards being a green, healthy, safe and friendly city. He stressed that dog owners have a responsibility to keep pets on leads and clean up after them.

Similar maintenance work is also taking place at Plaça de l'Amistat in the Bordeta neighbourhood. There, the protection fence around the children's play area is being extended into the green space, with work including digging a trench for the new fence section, relocating irrigation, rebuilding the slope and installing the fence.

Benches and play equipment at Plaça de l'Amistat will also be repainted. The two projects form part of the regular work carried out by the council's works brigade and its gardening and urban furniture maintenance services. For more local updates, see news.
