A light aircraft made an emergency landing in an agricultural field in Cardona, central Catalonia, on Sunday morning. The incident, which occurred in the Cal Jovellanet area, resulted in no injuries to the two occupants.

Emergency services were alerted at 10.30am. Firefighters from the Generalitat, along with medical teams from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) and local police, Mossos d'Esquadra, attended the scene. Two fire crews were dispatched to the site, according to officials.

Mechanical Failure Forces Landing

Initial reports indicate the aircraft, a C-177 model, experienced a mechanical failure while in flight. This forced the pilot to carry out an emergency landing in a cultivated field near the Cal Jovellanet farmhouse. Both individuals on board were able to exit the aircraft unharmed.

Firefighters secured the area and carried out necessary prevention tasks. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the mechanical failure, but early indications point to an engine problem with the aircraft.
