Leo Boixader i Roma, who served as Berga's librarian for 35 years, has died. She had lived at the Bagà residence since 2014, where she remained deeply involved in cultural events and promoting reading.

Boixader is remembered as the librarian of the Berguedà capital, a role she held between 1985 and 1993. At that time, the library, known as the 'Biblioteca de la Caixa', was not in its current location. It was first situated in Plaça de les Fonts and later moved to Passeig de la Pau. Even after retirement, she stayed active in her profession, leading the organisation of the book collection at the Bagà residence to establish a library there.

Her career also included driving the Cultural Training Class project for Seniors in Berga, alongside Concepció Antich in 1996. This initiative responded to an unexpected demand and involved various teachers, covering a wide range of topics. Many students participated, showing interest in an active old age and a desire to continue learning.

Recognised for Cultural Contributions

In 1990, Boixader received the Premi Ciutat de Berga a la Cultura Popular (Berga City Award for Popular Culture) from the then-mayor, Agustí Ferrer. The Berga City Council expressed its condolences on social media, remembering their former librarian. They also recognised her involvement in scouting and choral singing, highlighting her active contribution to the city's cultural and associative life.

Boixader's dedication to books and community engagement left a lasting mark on both Berga and Bagà, ensuring access to literature and learning for residents of all ages.
