Most municipal taxes frozen for 2027

The Ajuntament de la Selva del Camp has approved the freezing of most municipal taxes and fees for 2027. The decision, taken during a plenary session at the end of September 2026, means household and small business charges such as the IBI (property tax) and IVTM (mechanical vehicle tax) will remain unchanged. This move aims to shield families, traders and small businesses from increased fiscal pressure, according to Mayor Enric Roberto, who described the tax ordinances as "balanced" and essential to maintaining municipal service sustainability.

Targeted changes for businesses and green vehicles

While most taxes are frozen, the council has proposed a slight increase in the tax bands for the Impost sobre Activitats Econòmiques (IAE) for industrial zone businesses in La Selva del Camp that report annual revenues exceeding one million euros. At the same time, the council plans to increase the IBI discount for households with annual incomes below €30,000. It also proposes reducing the vehicle tax by up to 75% for zero-emission vehicles and by 50% for those with an ECO environmental label.

These measures guarantee the economic sustainability of municipal services while avoiding shifting tax burdens onto families and small enterprises.

Unanimous approval for new mobility rules

In the same session, the council unanimously approved an update to the municipal ordinance regulating personal mobility vehicles, aligning it with new national traffic rules that came into force on 1 October 2026. The changes include setting a minimum age of 15 for riding electric scooters, mandatory helmet use, and the requirement to register vehicles with the General Directorate of Traffic. The updated ordinance is available on the Ajuntament's official regulations page.

New councillor takes office

Rosana Martínez (PSC) formally took office as a councillor on Tuesday, replacing Arantxa Salvat, who resigned for personal reasons. Martínez will lead the Festes and Sports Facilities portfolios, while Education responsibilities pass to Deputy Mayor Neus Bové. The tax and mobility measures were approved with support from governing coalition parties PSC and ERC. Opposition parties Junts and CUP voted against the tax proposals.
