Mosca de Sant Narcís for Sílvia Pérez Cruz
Singer and composer Sílvia Pérez Cruz (Palafrugell, 1983) will receive the Mosca de Sant Narcís at this year's Mosques de la Informació awards. The honour is awarded to individuals or organisations that have stood out in defending collective rights or promoting Girona’s reality beyond its natural borders. Pérez Cruz has built an international reputation through a career defined by artistic excellence, creative freedom and exceptional interpretative skill. Trained in classical music and deeply rooted in Catalan traditions, her work spans singer-songwriter genres, popular music, flamenco, jazz and classical composition. She has collaborated globally on major musical, audiovisual and stage projects and received some of the most prestigious awards in music and audiovisual arts. Despite her global reach, she remains closely connected to her roots in Girona's comarques, which continue to shape her artistic vision.
Dual Award for Veteran Journalists
The Mosca del Col·legi, recognising outstanding professional careers in journalism, will be jointly awarded to Josep-Víctor Gay i Frías (Vilafranca del Penedès, 1939) and Angels Bronsoms i Fontané (Girona, 1961). Gay began his career after graduating from the Escuela Oficial de Periodismo in 1958, a state-run institution with limited places under Spain's former Ministry of Information and Tourism. He joined Los Sitios in Zaragoza before moving to Girona in June 1962 as chief editor, a role he held when the publication was privatised and renamed Diari de Girona in 1984. He served as director from 1989 to 1991. He also worked on summer editions of L’Indépendant's Costa Brava edition between 1966 and 1977 and served as correspondent in Girona’s comarques from 1967 to 2000. Additionally, he reported for Tele/eXprés and La Vanguardia. After retiring from Diputació de Girona in 2003, where he founded the Emili Massanas i Burcet Image Archive, the precursor to INSPAI, he continues to contribute to COPE Girona and the Delegation of Media of the Girona Diocese.
“His dedication has left a lasting mark on local journalism,” said Jordi Grau, president of the Girona branch of the Col·legi de Periodistes.
Bronsoms, a fully accredited journalist and doctor in Communication from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, has over 40 years of experience in media, culture and music. She started young in radio and television, working with outlets including Catalunya Ràdio, TV3, TVE and El País. Her time as a correspondent in the United States shaped her international outlook, particularly in music and cultural journalism. She authored Animals de rock and roll, a study of Spain’s 1970s music scene and its social impact. In later years, her focus shifted to research on women, music and media, culminating in a doctorate specialising in gender perspective and feminist musicology. Today, she combines journalism, research and outreach to recover the voices and genealogies of women in Catalan culture and music.
Honouring Pep Collelldemont
A brief tribute will also be paid to fellow journalist Pep Collelldemont, who died on 23 December at the age of 87.
