44th Catalan Book Week Features Journalists' Contributions
The Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya is taking part in the 44th edition of the Setmana del Llibre en Català, running from 18 to 27 September 2026 at the Passeig de Lluís Companys in Barcelona, near the Arc de Triomf. The event coincides with the city’s Festes de la Mercè and showcases the breadth of Catalan-language publishing, with 98 stalls and 282 publishing imprints present, according to beteve.cat. Over a dozen accredited journalists will present recently published books at the Barcelona fair, while regional branches of the journalists’ association are hosting satellite events in Girona, Tarragona, Lleida, Catalunya Central and Terres de l’Ebre.
More than 350 activities, including author signings, literary itineraries and stage events, will take place during the week-long festival, alongside a new ‘Oficis del Llibre’ tent highlighting professions in the book industry.
Events Across Catalonia
In Barcelona, participating journalists include Jordi Jordà i Casademont, presenting Montserrat Minobis i Puntonet. La veu que va desafiar el seu temps, Mateu Ciurana Xirgo with L'evangeli segons Ponç Pilat, and Joan Carreras Goicoechea launching Estaria molt bé. Others include Josep Saurí Ros, Antoni Clapés Casals, Fúlvia Nicolàs Tolosa and Xavier Moret Ros, who will present works ranging from mythology to gastronomy. The Girona demarcation hosts a roundtable titled "El vici d'escriure" on 14 September at 6.30pm at Llibreria 22 (Carrer de les Hortes, 22). It features journalists Mar Bosch Oliveras, Mar Camps, Jordi Jordà and Carles Ribera, and is moderated by cultural journalist Júlia Net Valiente. The event is supported by the Girona Provincial Council. In Tarragona, a panel on "Periodisme i literatura: escriure el territori" takes place on 14 September at 6pm at Llibreria La Capona. Participants include Elena Domingo Basora, Ricard Lahoz Avendaño and Sara Sans Casanovas, with Ruth Troyano Puig. The event is moderated by Carlos Domènech, vice-president of the Tarragona branch. Catalunya Central's event features journalist Núria Bacardit, author of Les orquídies del mal, in conversation on 17 September at 7pm at the branch’s headquarters in Manresa (Plana de l'Om, 6, 1st floor). The talk is hosted by fellow journalist Maria Alba Riu and supported by Llibreria Parcir. In Lleida, journalists Pep Sanz, Cristina Mongay, Paco Castillo and Joan Torné present their latest works on 16 September at 5.30pm, moderated by Miriam García. The Terres de l’Ebre branch joins with "Periodisme amb accent ebrenc" on 28 September at 7pm at the Marcel·lí Domingo Library in Tortosa. Participants include Oriol Gracià, Josep Pitarch, Irene López and Arturo Gaya, with Marina Pallás as moderator.
Expanded Festival Programme
The 2026 edition introduces the Casa de Creació Digital, a cultural facility promoted by Barcelona City Council, and pays tribute to Ramon Folch i Camarasa on the centenary of his birth. Ramon Solsona will receive the 30th Trajectòria Award and Màrius Serra the 6th Difusió Award. The festival is open to the public free of charge.
