Barcelona is the local focus as lawyer Jacobo Teijelo, who represents former Socialist leader Santos Cerdán, has been summoned by a Spanish High Court judge in an investigation into an alleged plot affecting police and judicial work in Spain.
Judge Santiago Pedraz has called Teijelo to appear on 25 June. The court order, seen by VilaWeb, says he is being questioned over alleged offences including revealing secrets, bribery, and crimes against state institutions.
The case is linked to Leire Díez, described in the reporting as a PSOE fixer. According to the investigation, the alleged plan was aimed at destabilising police and judicial operations connected to the PSOE or the Spanish government.
The Civil Guard's Central Operative Unit, the UCO, says Teijelo was present at a meeting in late 2024 with Díez, businessman Javier Pérez Dolset, and Civil Guard captain Juan Sánchez Yepes. Investigators say the purpose was to obtain secret information about the UCO's structure and members, who were already probing alleged corruption cases involving the PSOE.
The Civil Guard also alleges that the group paid €50,000 to María del Carmen Pano Sánchez, a businesswoman linked to Víctor de Aldama, so she would retract a court statement about the delivery of €90,000 in bags to PSOE headquarters.
