Lleida is the setting for a new summer camp aimed at encouraging STEM vocations among secondary students. Jesuïtes Lleida Col·legi Claver and IQS Universitat Ramon Llull have launched the IQS Summer Camp Claver, which runs from 6 to 10 July for 4th-year ESO and Batxillerat students.
The programme combines training sessions in Raimat with practical activities and visits to IQS facilities in Barcelona. Its focus is science, technology, engineering and entrepreneurship, with the aim of helping participants reflect on their future studies and career paths.
Across the week, students will take part in workshops on artificial intelligence, robotics, experimental chemistry, engineering simulation and 3D printing. The camp uses experimental learning and a learning by doing approach, giving young people direct contact with laboratory settings and advanced technology.
Alongside the technical sessions, the programme includes work on communication, teamwork, creativity and entrepreneurship. It also introduces students to current workplace challenges, linking classroom learning with university and professional environments.
IQS, a founding member of Ramon Llull University, has two university faculties, IQS School of Engineering and IQS School of Management. It also has departments focused on entrepreneurship, technology transfer and continuous training, which the organisers say makes it a strong partner for this kind of initiative. Lourdes Torrelles, general director of Jesuïtes Lleida, said the collaboration with IQS is an opportunity to connect young talent with a university environment and help students make more informed decisions about their educational path. The Young Talent programme is open to students from any educational centre, not only Col·legi Claver.
