High-speed train services between Barcelona-Sants and Camp de Tarragona were halted on Monday afternoon after a fire near the railway tracks between Sant Vicenç dels Horts and El Prat de Llobregat.

The disruption affected all operators using this section of the line, including Renfe, Iryo and Ouigo, according to Renfe sources. The fire started at 2.51pm, and two units from the Generalitat Firefighters were sent to the scene.

Catalonia's Civil Protection agency activated the Ferrocat plan at pre-alert level in response to the incident. The cause of the fire was not known.

Passengers travelling between Barcelona and Tarragona faced delays and cancellations on a key corridor linking the Catalan capital with the Camp de Tarragona area and destinations further south.

Authorities were working to determine the origin of the blaze and check the safety of the railway line before services could resume. For ongoing transport updates in Catalonia, see our news coverage.
