High-speed rail services between Barcelona Sants, Girona and Figueres/Vilafant resumed on Sunday, 7 June 2026, after a Saturday evening incident near La Sagrera in Barcelona.

Adif, the railway infrastructure manager, said normal service was restored after the affected train was removed and the catenary system repaired. The disruption had forced a line closure, passenger evacuation and alternative road transport.

Around 9:30pm on Saturday, Catalonia's Civil Protection agency reported that about 100 passengers had been evacuated from the stranded train. Firefighters assisted in the operation, and all passengers were safely taken off the train.

The train was operating on the Figueres to Madrid route and stopped between the Mollet bifurcation and La Sagrera station. The incident led to the complete suspension of high-speed traffic on this corridor, affecting travellers between Barcelona, Girona and Figueres/Vilafant.

Adif said service had returned to normal once the repair work was completed. Passengers were advised to check live updates in case of any lingering knock-on delays.
