Girona, Catalonia, Girona FC have been relegated to Spain’s second division after a 1-1 draw with Elche at Montilivi stadium in Girona. The club needed a win to stay up, but the result confirmed the drop.

Fans leaving Montilivi expressed strong disappointment and anger after the match. Comments included, “We are very bad”, “it’s a disgrace”, and “we cannot get three points in seven games”. Some supporters said the relegation was deserved, adding that this time they could not blame refereeing or outside factors.

Supporters also called for major changes at the club. Some demanded a “clean-up” to “recover Girona pride”, while others said the squad needed more players who “feel the colours like Stuani, Portu and those from home”.

Frustration also focused on the team’s approach in the decisive game. One fan said the supporters had arrived hours early, but the team had played an “unworthy final”, with the first shot on goal coming in the 45th minute. Chants of “management resignation” were heard, along with questions about the club’s finances.
